Bad logic frequently follows from false assumptions.

Found this quote from Thomas L. Jones in the Court TV Library:

http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/famous/simpson/index_1.html?sect=12

“For O.J. Simpson to be innocent in the face of such a "mountain of evidence" as the District Attorney's office presented during the trial, it simply meant that everyone was lying, corrupted and involved in a grand scheme of deceit and treachery.”

How often have you heard nonsense like this from people who should know better?

For O.J. Simpson to be innocent in the face of such a "mountain of evidence" as the District Attorney's office presented during the trial, it simply means that enough people were persuaded by enough evidence to act and testify according to what they believed. You don’t need a conspiracy of evil intent to fame an innocent man. All you need is a community of shared perceptions that he is guilty. –Jasper
