Ludwig,

I don’t think Mrs. Fuhrman knows anything about the night of the murders except where her husband wasn’t. Judging from the way he compulsively anticipates problems and prepares to deal with them, I think he made careful preparations to deceive his wife.

There didn’t have to be blood in his Scout or on his body if he anticipated the need to insure that there wouldn’t be. Plastic sheets on the floor and seats, a change of shoes, a change of clothes, Handy-wipes, a comb, dark towels, air freshener and, presto, no incriminating evidence of murder in Mark’s Scout or on his body. He could have changed clothes while he drove, stuffed the bloody ones in a plastic bag and pitched the bag in any dumpster between Brentwood and Redondo Beach. He lived 20 minutes south of Nicole[s condo only three blocks from the ocean and could have slug the clothes into the drink. If they washed ashore, no problem. Nobody would know what they meant.

A tiny dab of a stranger’s perfume on the MF’s neck, a hint of lipstick on his collar or a “carelessly” discarded pair of panties sticking out from under the front seat would have covered his absence nicely. Anything of the sort coupled with a “stupid” lie or two about where he was would have been all the evidence Carline needed to believe that he had a powerful reason for lying to her. Obviously, he was seeing another woman. If she loved him and feared losing him such a discovery would have given her a rare opportunity to prove her devotion and her value.

The actress playing Caroline Fuhrman in the MF’s movie is no beauty. Neither was the real Martha Moxley. Turning Martha into one makes the motive he gives Michael for killing her plausible. The screenplay Caroline’s plainness is probably supposed to tell you that her inner beauty is all that matters to our hero Mark. I got another message. If the real Caroline is as attractive as I heard she is, I’ll put good money down that she doesn’t see herself that way and Mark feeds her inferior self-image every chance he gets. His choice of the actress to represent her seems to me like a subtle way of telling her how lucky she is that he chose her to be the mother of his children.

I don’t believe Mrs. Fuhrman knows any more than she wants to know and I don’t think she wants to know anything that might cause her to loose her man. –Jasper
